  • 1 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. Let me commend, appreciate and support the President‟s Speech to Kenyans. I want to speak to the issue of security. I thank the President for taking the bold move of appointing hon. Nkaissery to head the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government. It is already bearing a lot of fruits. We have curbed external security threats in terms of terror attacks and the issue of Al Shabaab . One thing I expected the President to talk about is the internal conflict we have in Kenya. If it ... view
  • 1 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: education. This is a positive move towards the right direction. However, I urge the President and the Government to add more money to pastoral areas because of the hardship that is there. I will also want to see the President looking at the issue of securing school land. On corruption, I want to say that the President has done a lot. I want to talk about the governors who are doing clan profiling and are talking about communities. In Isiolo, I know my Governor is in the list and he has been blaming clan issues for his misfortune. I know ... view

  • 25 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Asante, Mhe. Naibu Spika wa Muda. Nasimama kuichangia Hoja hii. Ningependa kumshukuru dada yangu Mhe.
  • 26 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I stand to support this Motion. I used to be a teacher under the TSC and I know the hefty work that these members will be doing. I know some of the nominees in person; I know of their vast experience and outstanding performance in their areas. For example, Mr. Tache Bonsa Gollo comes from my constituency. He has vast experience as a teacher and as a Vice- Chairman of the Gender and Equality Commission. He has been working with the Red Cross and the experience that he has will help the TSC to move forward. The Committee ... view

  • 10 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. On my behalf and on behalf of the people of Isiolo County, I wish to send my condolences to the families of the late hon. Muchai, his driver and his bodyguards. I shared two committees with hon. Muchai, namely the Committee of Labour and Social Welfare and the Committee on Budget and Appropriations. Recently, when we were leaving Mombasa, I had a very long discussion with him and he informed me that he had recorded a statement a week earlier about his assassination. I wish to ask the Government to ensure that when Members report any ... view
  • 30 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I stand to support the Water Bill, which is very important. Water is life and most of the time, issues of water are handled by women. If we have legislation in terms of how we are going to deal with the issue of water, it will be very important. I come from an area where water is very scarce. Most of the time, when people sit and plan how they are going to get support, even from the national Government, communities are never consulted. People sit and send some people down to do whatever is required ... view
  • 30 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: I know of a case where Isiolo Community is looking into a way of doing away with water pans and boreholes in some areas. In the last financial year, a lot of money was allocated but it went down the drain. Contracts were advertised and tenders were awarded, but the community refused to allow that particular water pan to be put in place. This was because it enhances conflict in some areas. So, there needs to be harmony and co-ordination in terms of how water points can be put up, for example by the national Government. If we do that, ... view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The proposal to create that fund is untimely. We should not support this Motion because the disadvantaged groups of our society have already been taken care of. We have quite a number of funds available. We already have the cash transfer programme for elderly persons, a fund for persons living with disabilities, a fund for the urban poor, a fund for view
