  • 1 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I support the Motion on establishment of a national rugby union stadium in Kenya. Sporting activities have been known to promote anti-aging as well as bring social, cultural and economic benefits. When we talk about economic benefits, we are talking about job creation. There are quite a number of youths who have no jobs. So, if they are engaged, the economic index of this country will grow. The youth in our country are engaged in a lot of crime. They are engaged in drug and substance abuse. When we engage them in sporting activities, ... view
  • 1 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: The other issue is poverty reduction. If the youth are engaged in sporting activities, we will create jobs; unemployment will not be an issue. We will engage our youth. Even in our schools, there is mental health and fitness in sporting. We need to establish national rugby stadiums in Kenya. As a Member of the Sports Committee of this House, I am in for it because we need facilities in our nation. Men and women across the country must be engaged in sporting activities so that they do not engage in other antisocial behaviour. This will bring unity. There is ... view
  • 31 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Chairman. The word “petty” in itself is degrading and dehumanising. It makes someone have low self-esteem and performs poorly. I know this is a word which was put by colonialists in 19th Century. So, we have to replace it with “warrant” because in the disciplined forces, you have the warrant to arrest. I remember when I was serving in Eldoret Municipal Council, I used to be given petty cash. view

  • 31 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: the Eldoret Municipal Council. So, if we can call people “petty”, one will not do what is required of them. We need to change that word. The right word is “warrant” because they have the powers to arrest. Thank you. view
  • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. We have witnessed a lot of defilement in our schools. A case in point is Moi Girls Nairobi. I support this Motion. We need to have all our public schools installed with CCTVs. As member of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, I know that security for our children is a priority. Everyone in Kenya must be secure. We know there are people who are HIV positive and we cannot allow our children to be defiled and get sick. We need to install CCTVs so that when we take our children to ... view
  • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: So, we need to install CCTVs in our schools. It is not a matter of just installing CCTVs. We are to engage psychologists in all our schools. I am a social worker by profession and if we cannot deal with the root cause of the problems facing our children, we will have them installed but that would not really solve the problem. We are talking about equipment that can be switched off any time if they know where it is located. So, we must engage psychologists in all the public schools so that they can address this issue. view
  • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Also, majority of our schools are not fenced. We need to protect our children. These are the leaders of tomorrow. They need to sleep in a secure environment. This issue should be addressed from all points. view
