  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Okay. Thank you for the advice. First, I want to thank all the Members of this House who have supported this Motion. This Motion, as you have heard from Members, should be moved to the next level. It should be developed into a Bill so that it can now effect all the contributions that have been made by the Members of this House. Green energy--- view
  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you. This is a Motion that requires us to look at our energy requirements in details. We need to focus more on how we can develop our current renewable energy which is available in abundance. At the same time, as many Members have said, nuclear energy has its advantages and that is all agreed. I want to thank hon. Nicholas Gumbo for coming up with that amendment to ensure that we continue with researching on how best we can use nuclear energy in other aspects, particularly in medical field and agriculture. Who knows, as technology improves we may come ... view
  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: focus mainly on renewable energy. On this score, I want to thank the Government because it has put so much emphasis now on renewable energy particularly the geothermal energy. Currently the Government is putting a lot of money in this area. view
  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Even county governments have started putting in a lot of money into wind energy. Like in Turkana, and I sympathize with my colleague from Turkana, there is a big project that is coming up on wind energy. If that project is finalised and becomes operational, it is going to contribute more than 300 Megawatts of energy. In conclusion, I want to thank all the Members who have contributed to this Motion. I look forward to us moving to the next stage of coming up with a Bill, so that we can operationalise this Motion into law. view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Yes. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First, I take this opportunity to thank my good colleague, hon. Lekuton, Laisamis Constituency, for bringing this Bill to this House. view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: In the Tenth Parliament, my colleague, hon. Lekuton, also brought a very important Bill and I had a chance to second it. That Bill was the Unclaimed Assets Bill. Today, we have a big Unclaimed Assets Authority, which actually looks after a lot of money that has been left in banks by various people; this money is in excess of Kshs300 billion. This money is now available for this country to use. So, I want to congratulate him for again bringing this very important Bill. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version ... view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, accidents in this country have become the order of the day, particularly accidents involving pedestrians. According to the statistics we have, over 50 per cent of accidents involve pedestrians. When you go further, you find that more than a half of them are children. Most of these accidents in many cases occur near institutions of learning. So, it is important, as my friend has said that we put up a very punitive law to ensure that we do not lose our children through these careless accidents which are caused by our careless drivers. It is important ... view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the intention of this Bill is to ensure that we secure our children. view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: As regards speed limit, when it comes to driving, most Kenyans do not even look at the road signs, particularly those that are near schools. So, it is important that strict speed limits are prescribed. view
