  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Attorney General:- (a) under what circumstances 12 Kenyan businessmen Messrs. Peter Giruka Mburu, David Ngugi Mburu, Simon Gathinji Kariuki, Michael Mbanya Wathigo, Patrick Muthee Miriithi, Boniface Mwangi Mburu, John Odhiambo Odongo, Gabriel Kung’u Kariuki, Jim Maina Njoroge, Wilfred Onyango Nganyi, Simion Ndung’u Kambuthi and Peter Mahera Kariba were arrested in Mozambique and handed over to Tanzania Police by the Kenya Police delegation under the watch of J. Nyaga Reche (SSP) and former Nairobi Area PCIO, Sammy Githui, on the 16th December, 2005; (b) whether he was aware that two of the above mentioned persons; Messrs. John Odhiambo Odongo ... view

  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. You have heard the Minister say that the Attorney-General is in a meeting and he will be coming here later. I do not know whether he is trying to tell the House that it can wait for him to come and answer after 4 o’clock. This Question is about Kenyans who are languishing in remand in Tanzania and the last time the Attorney-General answered this Question, he gave a very misleading answer that they have been jailed. I am not going into the merits of the case. I just want ... view
  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to rise on a point of order under the Order that you want to close. We have situations here where when we ask Questions and we give our input, we have newspapers that keep reporting and doing things that have not been said in the House. I want to bring to your attention the fact that on Wednesday, 21st November, 2012, I had asked a Question about a lady who was held captive in Saudi Arabia. I reported that I had requested for a Diplomatic Passport and the ... view
  • 22 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am gifted in seeing frustrated Ministers. The Minister has come to this House on this matter of Charterhouse Bank and the Banking Act several times. He has even thrown the matter to the Speaker and said; let the Speaker rule. I am sure if he was to stand there and tell the House the truth, he would say he is equally frustrated. This is a Minister who wants to tell the House things as they are. But for some reason because of the big brother syndrome that is the problem in CBK, he is not able ... view
  • 21 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, my point of order is on a procedural matter. This is because the Questioner said that this Question was put a long time ago, and it is a Question by Private Notice. Really, it beats logic for a Question by Private Notice to come after 48 hours. The Clerk’s Office ought to style up so that we do not have these eventualities in the House. view
  • 21 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that Ms. Rosemary Wariera Nduati is missing and had earlier complained of detention and mistreatment by her employer of phone number +966551782526 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? (b) What urgent measures is the Minister taking to ensure that she is traced, released from her exploitative employer’s custody and repatriated? (c) What is the Government doing to ensure that Kenyans living and working in the Middle East are safe from such dehumanizing occurrences? view
  • 21 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very surprised by the answer from the Assistant Minister because I had a word with him a few minutes ago unless he has just found out that information; that he had no answer. He was asking me to understand his frustrations. Now, I doubt whether what he is telling the House can be factual or truth. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the last time this Question came to Parliament on 12th October, 2012, we did agree that I would accompany him to Saudi Arabia because I gave him the recording of a telephone call between me and ... view
  • 21 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I appreciate your ruling and I am happy with it. In addition, I just want to make a request through the Chair. As you know, we have said many things about Kenyans held in Saudi Arabia. I requested for a diplomatic passport to be able to go there, worried that with an ordinary passport, I will get into trouble. The same Permanent Secretary has refused, even after hon. Kajwang wrote to him, to either acknowledge to either give me a diplomatic passport for the purpose of travelling to Saudi Arabia. So, I do request the Chair to ... view
  • 21 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not understand how the Assistant Minister cannot find the relationship, yet a few weeks ago, information came to the House that the same George Odhiambo has sued the Kenya Government in the US for close to Kshs2 billion in compensation for information given to him. Is that not contradictory on the part of the Assistant Minister? view
