  • 26 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Sessional Paper presented by the Ministry of Education. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 26 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: It is important for us to invest in technical education in order to be an achieving nation, a country that can compete in the global environment. Having been away for many years, I was quite surprised when I was elected a Member of Parliament for Kamukunji to see the state of our schools. Having worked in war torn countries, I was surprised to see how dilapidated our schools were. I am also surprised to see how discipline and commitment in teachers had gone done. Many of the schools had leaking roofs, floors were gone and did not have enough desks ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance. I support our colleagues’ request to have an extension for parents who are interested in adopting children. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: First of all, I want to look at why we have this problem. We have the problem of children being placed in adoption homes because of failure in our parenting and cultures. Adoption offers the best chance for a child to be placed with a family that may help him to grow and develop into a productive citizen who can help himself as well as the family that has taken care of him. They may also contribute to their country’s development. view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: So, one of the most difficult journeys one can make is to choose a child from a different culture, perspective and history. This requires time, energy and investment from both the foster homes and the persons who are interested in taking up a child. It makes a lot of sense for a new parent to be given a chance to learn more about the child she intends to adopt so that she can understand him. This will offer an opportunity for developing the means to adopt themselves to the needs of that child. It will also allow that child to ... view
  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the national tree planting campaign in my constituency on 12th May 2018. Since then, we have not heard much about this campaign from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. I would, therefore, like to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Forestry and Natural Resources the following Question: (i) How many trees have been planted, per county, since the launch of the tree planting campaign by H.E. the President on 12th May 2018 aimed at increasing the country’s tree cover by 10 percent? (ii) What is the current percentage of tree cover ... view
  • 17 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand to support this Petition. I, particularly, think it is important for us to address the conflict between civilians and the military in an amicable way. This is because we cannot have a peaceful and stable country, unless we are able to address this issue. I also speak as an MP who is hosting a significant military base in my own constituency and we are facing the problem of conflict of land occupied by civilians in neighbourhoods like Kiambiu. That informal settlement has remained undeveloped because the military is laying claim over that land. view
  • 17 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: I think it is important for the military to be sensitive and start working with the civilians to address many of those critical and contentious issues like land. Only then will we have stability and work very hard to support our armed forces in the very difficult task they have of defending our national borders. view
  • 17 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 25 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the President’s State of the Nation Address which was delivered to a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. view
