  • 17 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance to contribute to this Motion. I think we all agree that prices of basic commodities have actually increased and I think as a House we need to agree that when we were passing this Bill to become an Act of Parliament, we had very good intentions in terms of the Value Added Tax (VAT) administration. But what has happened is that the impact of this Act on Kenyans is something of concern. Why am I saying that it is something of The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report ... view
  • 17 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: concern? What has happened is that the prices of those basic commodities have increased. On the basis of that, the demand of the same commodities will actually go down. Normally, what will happen when the demand goes down is that production will be suppressed. When you suppress production of the same commodities, then the producing units will actually scale down in terms of employment and other things which can help Kenyans. As hon. Members, we need to think about this Motion in this manner. If we want employment in this country to expand, then we need to rethink this Act ... view

That is why the waste they collect drops off their vehicles as they drive to the dumpsites. When they get ... view
  • 16 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. It is really frustrating to Kenyans when we read this Motion that KenGen and TARDA release volumes of water into the ocean. As the water flows downstream, it causes a lot of damage to crops and even to animals in the communities which live near the river. view
  • 16 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Most of the communities in those areas are on famine relief throughout the year. We ask ourselves: Why should we let such volumes of water go to the ocean when we are talking about famine relief in the same areas? I support this Motion because instead of this water flowing into the ocean, it should be tapped to be used for irrigation in such areas. If you look at the Ukambani area, where I come from, you realize that water is a major problem. People in big towns like Kitui and Mutomo just hear about water. They do not have ... view
