We are a House of traditions, customs and rules. The custom here is that if you withdraw, you apologise. She had apologised really even though on a lighter note. The House certainly needed some comic relief because the debate was becoming a little dull.

considerable portion of the populous, we also need to mainstream this to become part of our serious business as a nation. Weekends are normally rest days. So, we do casual stuff. By setting aside a working day, it will send the very clear message that this is part of the serious business we take on as citizens of this country. It is, therefore, good to allow this amendment, so that the Government and all of us will know that on a Friday, a working day, we would set aside a couple of hours to do this work.

Hon. Speaker, now that we are held in abeyance, it would do no harm to put on record a support for the Report. The spirit in Article 113 of the Constitution about mediation, which was intended to ensure harmony between the Senate and the National Assembly in the process of legislation, warrants that. Previously, we have had challenges in ensuring that the two Houses operate the process of legislation harmoniously. Even as we favourably consider the request for extension, the justification or rationale cannot be that the extension of the term of this Board will not occasion any further cost to the taxpayer. That cannot be the primary consideration that this House looks at. This House must look at the value addition, the fulfilment of the mandate and expectation that Kenyans had when we put this Board in place. exercise concludes, the trust Kenyans have in the Judiciary, judicial officers, magistrates and judges will be higher than it was at the beginning of the vetting exercise. Hon. Speaker, I am an officer of the court as you are yourself. As an officer of the court, I appear in court once in a while.
