That is a reality in certain jurisdictions. Our Constitution was pieced together in the context of a lot of historical fear, misgivings and apprehensions, one of which was the overriding desire to build national unity. We should ensure that this law provides a basis of cleaning up the mess we witnessed in political party nominations. Finally, Clauses 17, 18 and 27 talk about appointment of the Registrar of Political Parties and it is a shame that she has been in an acting capacity for the last eight years. It is unacceptable and we should hasten the enactment of this law and the process of the appointment of a substantive holder of this office. view

I sat here with a lot of apprehension listening to the Leader of the Majority Party disparaging the grand old party of Independence that has been chaired by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta and the party that the Deputy President has been the Secretary-General. Maybe we are not giving them keen consideration that is desired. I do not understand why we need to knock out the Cabinet Secretary. It was very clear why counties should be represented and in that one, there is no gainsaying why governors should have a stake.
