  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: THAT, this House adopts the Report of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock on its inquiry into the challenges facing the Coffee Research Institute, laid on the table of the House on Tuesday, 26th November 2019. Thank you. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I also wanted to know the fate of my Question which I asked on the Floor of this House and which you effectively directed to the Committee on Energy about an issue of oil exploration in Mandera Central. At some point, I was asked to appear before the Committee and the CS never showed up. Hon. Speaker, I want to know from the Chair, Departmental Committee on Energy what the fate of that very Question is because oil exploration is a very important economic activity especially in Mandera South. So, we need some urgent answers to this Question. ... view

  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I agree entirely with the Member on the problem in the dairy sector. The way the Statement is phrased requires a full inquiry into the dairy industry. I want to go by the 60 days like the way the petitions are usually handled so that within that time, we will come up with a proper and full inquiry into this case. view

  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I want to echo your sentiments. Looking at the spirit of the Statement, the Member wants to see the best way we can help the farmer. The Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock is the best suited to deal with farmers’ matters. The product is on the consumer side. I do not know what the Member had in mind, or what the spirit in which she wrote the statement is. If it is about helping the Kenyan dairy farmer, then the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock is the best suited to deal with this matter. Thank you. view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to raise the fundamental point of relevance. I can see the Hon. Member is very passionate about KMC. Little does he know that KMC will fall squarely under this Kenya Livestock Marketing Board so that it can be better managed. Even though KMC is right in his constituency, we know that KMC has had a lot of issues from Mavoko Constituency. So, I wanted to raise the issue of relevance. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: (Mandera South, JP) Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. The matter that has been raised by the Chair and also by Hon. Sankok is a weighty one. The House’s attention must be drawn to the elephant in the room which is the Executive Orders that are usually issued immediately after the budget-making process is completed. We have realised that the Executive is in the habit of hiving off state departments out of certain Ministries and transferring them to others immediately after the budget-making process is completed. That makes it very difficult for Committees to oversee them. If such movements are ... view
