  • 13 Feb 2025 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, Audit Committees play a very important role in safeguarding the public interest. I request that the House Business Committee fast-track all the pending reports of the Audit Committees because that is the only way to assess whether the public gets value for money. These should not be treated like any other reports because the Office of the Auditor-General audits these entities. Parliament is supposed to act as a neutral arbiter. It should provide an avenue for the audited agencies and the Auditor- General to explain the same so that the public can also understand this. I am ... view

  • 11 Feb 2025 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, unless this question is determined, pursuant to Standard Order 171, we are looking at a crisis, which can only be sorted out with the proper guidance from the Speaker. This state of affairs portends a crisis for the House. We want your guidance, pursuant to Standing Order 171, on who are the majority and minority parties. Once that is determined, all other things will flow. view
  • 16 Jan 2025 in National Assembly: Thank you for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this very important Report. Diplomacy is, by definition, the art, science, and other means states use to interact with other nations to safeguard their national interests. That being the case, modern-day diplomacy was born out of the Vienna Convention of 1961. The convention also provided the basis for diplomatic engagement to promote, project and protect the interests of countries. During your time as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and when Amina took over later on, I am aware that we had, for the first time, adopted a written foreign policy ... view
  • 16 Jan 2025 in National Assembly: are not happy with the appointing authority. It is a way to assist the individual in becoming productive as soon as they take up the role. The world is experiencing a crisis today—the Middle East crisis, the Ukraine and Russia crisis, and the regime change in the US. It is high time that Kenyans appointed to these positions were individuals who could stand the test of time. They should be prepared individuals with the skills and interests of this country at heart and willing to go out of their way to promote this premier nation. You are aware that some ... view

  • 5 Dec 2024 in National Assembly: Ideally, Hon. Temporary Speaker, there is nothing that is out of order, but I have heard the words ‘abduction’ and ‘disappearances’ being mentioned. The framers of the current Constitution, the great men and women who fought for the making of this important nation and State called Kenya never imagined at any one moment that under this generous Constitution, a time will come when adherence to the rule of law and constitutional order will be put aside and criminal elements in the name of anything will just abduct people, will make sure individuals disappear and then on the face of it, ... view
  • 5 Dec 2024 in National Assembly: My conclusion is this: I understand the intrigues and I really empathise with him because I know what he has been asked to convey, having been a former Chairman. I want the Hon. Chairman to put his foot down because he is a very important leader. Gabriel is not the making of anyone. In fact, he is on the list of those I call test-tube politicians. You are a self-made politician. Do not accept some of the answers that do not deserve to be brought to this House. Throw them out of the window. Demand for a proper answer that ... view
  • 5 Dec 2024 in National Assembly: an elected leader and a State officer, tomorrow they will do it to you and it will be said it is the work of criminal elements. Go back to those people and tell them that we demand a plausible and reasonable answer to some of these questions that we raised. Telling us that it is an abduction does not make sense. view
