Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT Clause 82 of the Bill be amended- (a) by renaming the existing provision as sub-section (1) and inserting the word “Parliament” immediately after the words “ Cabinet Secretary”; (b) by inserting the following new sub-clause- (2) Despite sub-section (1), the Director-General shall from time to time report to Parliament on the activities of the Service through the relevant Committee.

Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, while empathising with the Mover of this particular amendment, it is practically impossible to subject the entire membership of the service through a vetting process. This is the ideal thing that we would have liked taking into account the fact that we are just about five months to the election. We are certain that we are going to have a new president.
