1 Oct 2020 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I just wanted to comment on the issue that you have just read. We still have the COVID-19 crisis. I just want to plead with Members because we saw a trend last week and this week where Members come with masks and when they are speaking, they remove them. Let us not endanger our health. I plead with the Members. The Temporary Deputy Speaker and the other Members of the Speaker’s Panel, let us stick to the rules because this is very important for this institution.

22 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I agree with those who have said that we need to have unity of purpose. This issue of gender equity has been around since time immemorial. When the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya issued that edict - whether it was administrative or judicial, I do not know - what came first to my mind is what happened to this very important principle called national interest? There are certain things that cannot be documented or written. In any civilised country, national interests outweigh any other interests whether written or unwritten. We just have one by-election ...

22 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, this means that the failures of the individuals in the two other arms of Government want to reduce Parliament to a punching bag. This is one thing that we should not accept. This is politics; it is politicising the institution of Parliament. I stand here and say that what you did yesterday was the right thing. Even all the other sober minded lawyers, including the Grand Mullah who have expanded their horizon of thinking outside the petty politics of their sectarian interests, have supported your position and that is the position that we, as the Parliamentary Service Commission ...

22 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
pending retirement? That is the essence. Therefore, Parliament is the easiest institution to use as a punching bag. I beg you. It is not about your eligibility. It is not about whether you will be reelected or not. It is about the principle of Parliament being used as a punching bag. I was there in the 10th, 11th and now in the 12th Parliament. How comes it failed the attention of all those who were there to sort this out. Why would you attribute it to Parliament? Why do you want to negate the very principle of free and fair ...

15 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. The issue of historical land injustices whether during pre-colonial, colonial or after colonial times is emotive. Over the years, we have struggled to put in place institutions that deal with taxpayers’ fund. So, as much as the Petition by Hon. Sang is in order, it is high time we also insisted that these institutions - and the The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

15 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
framers of the current Constitution have put it in place – are forced to work and effect their mandate so that the issue of land injustices is clearly sorted out. Otherwise, just waiting for one petition to come to the Floor of the House when we have institutions that are mandated to deal with this, yet they are not solving this is not right. We have funded them and it is high time that we as the representatives of the people, pursuant to Article 1 of the Constitution, invoked that Article and insisted that these institutions, including the National Land ...

15 Sep 2020 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. The Petition is timely. I hope the Committee, in its own wisdom, will try to expand and look at all other historical land injustices and deal with this issue, once and for all. Thank you.
