If there will be need for further investigations, it is okay. However, I assure this House that within the next two weeks, the report is going to be ready. On the issue of farmers, I agree and sympathize with the situation. It is a fact that farmers cannot be paid because millers cannot sell sugar because of the excess sugar in the market. There is the smuggling of sugar and the most critical one is what measures have been put in place to stop the excess sugar in this country. First and foremost, the importation of sugar arises out of the shortage of local production in this country. So, there is a shortage of over 230 metric tonnes for the local consumption that the local factories cannot meet. We will have the Inspector-General of Police next Tuesday. The Member very well knows that the functions of the Department of Fisheries have been devolved to the counties despite the fact that the Ministry was just trying to complete some plants, which were tendered for before devolution came into being. They were just trying to complete the few plants and hand them over to the counties. view
