  • 8 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, this Report the hon. Member is talking about was prepared by Prof. Anyang’-Nyong’o when he was the Minister for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030. It is a Government document and it was tabled in this House. In fact, Maj-Gen. Nkaisserry went to court. Is he in order to say that the Turkana--- We know that Turkana is a very important community in this country. They are the most poverty stricken in this country today. Is he in order? view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as an old student of Moi University in the 1990s, I want to ask the Minister something. It is not just about moving students. What about the infrastructure of the School of Environmental Studies at the Main Campus in Moi University? How do you move the infrastructure? view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I support this Motion. This is a national crisis which is bigger than the Minister for Education and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. It is an issue that must be addressed by the two Principals. As my colleague has said, they are very good at reshuffling the Cabinet and doing horse trading on key position. They must rise to the occasion and address the issue of the Kenyan teachers. We, as Members of Parliament, will not allow the children from the disadvantaged backgrounds to suffer. We want teachers to be employed on ... view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the issue of whether the money went to Defence, this Government can raise the amount required. I totally agree that if that is not done, then we will not pass the Appropriations Bill. view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to support and thank all those who contributed to this Bill. I come from an area where this practice has a long history. The passage of this Bill will lead to huge unemployment of many old ladies in my constituencies and many other parts of the country. view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: It is an old tradition, but the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Development who is here must look forward, be focused and see how well she can help those many retirees that this Bill will create in many of our constituencies. I want to be very honest because we passed this Bill with all the honesty and integrity. As much as we support this Bill, we must also look into the plight of the many people who will be left jobless once the President assents to it. So, I want the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Development to ... view
  • 6 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want this Assistant Minister to come out very clearly. The border between Wajir County and Somalia is controlled by the AlShabaab, and he must tell the nation the truth because this Government supports the TFG. If this Government cannot return Kenyans who are under the custody of TFG troops, could he confirm to the House and the nation whether these officers are under the custody of the Al Shabaab militants? view
  • 6 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. This Assistant Minister is misleading the House and the nation. I want to confirm that the southern part of the Somalia, which borders Kenya, is controlled by al Shabaab. Could he give an explanation on this issue? I have said it again that the TFG Government is in partnership with the Kenya Government. Could he inform the nation the reason why the TFG Government is holding Kenyans? view
  • 6 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister is misleading this House and the nation. The side of the bridge in my constituency is not where the youth do business. The youth do business on the side of the Coast Province. The vetting and the screening takes place on the Garissa side of the bridge. So, he is misleading the nation because he is saying that the youths doing business interfere with the screening. The screening is done on the Garissa side, which is a totally different area. view
  • 6 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Even when I was in Government, I was never a security advisor to the Minister in charge of internal security. Having said so, I want to make it clear that, as the Member of Dujis, I am now playing my role as a Backbencher to bring the Government to order. view
