• 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: In the security laws, the framers of the Constitution decided to give the NPS powers which belong to the President. I want to go in history as the first Leader of the Majority Party who supported and made sure that the President has the powers to sack, redeploy, transfer the two Deputy IGs and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI). You cannot be the Commander-In-Chief of the KDF and the security forces and then a commission composed of some civilians is the one which recruits. When I moved that amendment with Hon. Chepkong’a, many people thought I was crazy. view

Apart from being the Commander-In-Chief of the Defence Forces, the President is the Chair of the National Security Advisory Council, which is the highest body where even the IG sits. We should give tutorials to those who are in the Opposition on how Government works. They are in the Government now but they are confused. They do not want to learn. view
• 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: I hope that once the new IG is in office, he shall look into the welfare of the Police Service like promotions and provision of decent and adequate housing. He must deal with those who want to destroy the public confidence of the police. Once up and running, we expect him to exercise disciplinary action and control, so that we can eliminate corruption among the police. If he does these two things, Wanjiku will be a happy person and the country will be a better place. view
