The Bill initially provided for the deletion of Section 4 and its replacement with the New Section 4, which included the Director General of Health as a member of the Council, but the House deleted that proposal. Section 9(1) of the Nurses Act provides for the function and the annual report of the Nursing Council of Kenya. Paragraph (i) provides that it should have regard for the standards of nursing care, qualified staff, nursing commodities and facilities. This provision gives the Nursing Council of Kenya mandate over standards of, among others, nursing commodities.
