Let us talk to the people of Kenya, so that they can bring more women to Parliament. However, in the time being, let us build roads, improve health care services and education. • 30 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to seek your indulgence and indeed that of the House and request you to defer the business appearing as Order No.10. Firstly, I am asking this because these Reports were laid in this House yesterday and they affect the next general elections. As such, they may impact on the citizenry and indeed Members of this House. In this regard, I am concerned that Members have not had time to look into these Election-Related Regulations. view
• 30 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Secondly, I am hoping that the coming weekend will give the Members and political parties time to propose, through their Members, any amendments because they are required to give 24 hours notice to the Clerk for them to reflect on the Order Paper. Thirdly, it is unlikely that the few minutes remaining before the commencement of the presentation of the Budget highlights will accord this House sufficient time to consider these Regulations. view

Therefore, political parties, through their legal teams, need to study and make the relevant amendments. Finally, the Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have also consulted my office and said they want to study them during the weekend alongside what they submitted to the House and what the Committee has brought in case they want to make a presentation.
