The Director-General is just there earning salary but he has no powers. He cannot stop an aircraft or search it to ensure compliance with documents of an aircraft. With the advent of terrorism, security is an integral component of the aviation industry anywhere in the world. This recognition is further emphasised under Clause 12 of the Bill, which proposes to amend Section 30(3) of the principal Act by inserting the word “security” at the end of the sentence.
