  • 12 Mar 2025 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my question to the hon. Cabinet Secretary is about Athi River which takes water all the way to Thwake Dam. It has a lot of dirt. I would like to know what the hon. Cabinet Secretary is doing about it. Secondly, how far is the construction of Maruba Dam in Machakos County because it has stalled for so long? The same applies to Mwania and Yatta dams because they have all stalled. view

I do not agree with this Statement because KESSHA members are having difficulties in running their schools. Parents also have many difficulties because the cost of living in Kenya has gone up and everyone is feeling it. If we increase school fees for secondary schools, what will we be doing to parents and where are they going to get money? What Sen.   • 5 Mar 2025 in Senate: a Statement requesting for the capitation to be transferred to schools in time, so that teachers can continue doing their work properly without any struggles. We should not add an extra burden to the parents. Therefore, I do not support the Statement. I would also like to comment on Sen. Cherarkey’s Statement on Kenya Power. All counties must be compelled to pay their bills. However, we have been seeing Kenya Power increasing their rates in a way that nobody understands. For the common view

Many people have turned to solar power because they can no longer afford electricity due to the rates. That should also be checked. Even as we ask the counties to pay, the bills should be checked. They should agree on the mode of payment because as I speak, in Machakos Town, there are streets without lights because electricity bills have not been paid.
