29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much, Madam Minister, for the answer that you have 3078 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE October 29, 2008 given. But I need to bring to your attention the fact that, what you are saying is not really what is on the ground. The awareness that you are talking about is not on the ground. I know the talk-shows you are talking about here. But that kind of awareness has not been brought to the people of Busia. You see, Busia District is on the border and there are many HIV cases. I request that more efforts should be put to ...

29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly:
Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the Minister, in her speech, said that it is easier to prevent than to cure. We know that when cancer has reached a certain stage, you cannot heal it. That is why I personally brought this Question. This recently discovered vaccine called "savary" is expensive but there are also other cheaper measures like the pap smear---

I will ask it! She could encourage women to go for pap smear because it is cheap. What measures is she putting in place to ensure that this vaccine is made available to our women, who are at risk? 3080 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE October 29, 2008

23 Oct 2008 in National Assembly:
Mr. Chairman, Sir, I wish to support the proposal. The position of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission is very important, especially given the reports that have come out. Therefore, I would suggest an amendment that---

7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I wish to oppose this Motion. This is because I really do not understand why we are calling this a recess. Tomorrow, my Committee is meeting most of the day. Next week, our Committee is meeting almost the whole week. We do that all the time. Even yesterday, my Committee met. We meet and attend the Chamber at the same time. When you come into Parliament you must learn to juggle like the liver. Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the only thing we will not be doing next week is ...

7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly:
Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I actually wanted to say something positive but I wish to withdraw nonetheless. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, an hon. Member alluded to the fact that nominated Members do not have constituencies. Indeed, I clarified that we have special interest constituencies. One of my constituencies has been having a problem. That is the children constituency.

7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly:
For that matter, I have been running all over like a head-less chicken while still attending Parliament until 6.30 p.m. every day. Schools have finally closed. Who are we going to consult in the schools to address these problems? Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, Parliament has referred this matter to the Committee on Education, Research and Technology which is going all over the country addressing this matter. Until they present their report our mouths are sealed and we are not able to deal with it outside the House. What are Members going to do outside the House? I also want to ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, I think many of us have taken a lot of Alvaro this afternoon. I am bringing us back to water.
