  • 19 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for responding to the emergency situation, at least on D289, road to Mosoriot from the interior of Mosop. Some work has started but on D288, Rivatex to UGDB border, there is one kilometre of a section at Simat which has made the road impassable and the people from that area have to go for another 20 kilometres to the Mosoriot Road to be able to get to Eldoret. I request the Minister to ask the KRB to release the emergency funds to the engineer in Kapsabet, Uasin Gishu or ... view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Last week, I requested the Minister for Roads and Public Works to issue a Statement here as to what he will do to help the people of Mosop and North Nandi in general, who cannot access the town of Eldoret and the main road, C39, which is the tarmac road from Eldoret to Kisumu, because of the heavy rains which have damaged most of the roads leading to the main road and to Eldoret Town. I hope that the Minister will issue the Statement today because this is more or less an ... view
  • 6 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise on a point of order to seek a Ministerial Statement and help from the Ministry of Roads and Public Works. Because of the heavy rains - and we thank God for the rains - the whole of Mosop is virtually cut off from Eldoret and Mosoriot. The section of road between Mosoriot and Kabiyet has been washed away. I want to request the Minister to send contractors to put gravel on the sections which have been made impassable by the rains. Our sick people cannot get to hospitals. The hospitals in the area are Moi ... view
  • 6 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir. Mr. Muite was moving it as the Chairman of a Committee. The Committee is the property of the House. It is not Mr. Muite's! Usually, the amendments from Departmental Committees cannot be moved by the Departmental Committee. No! It is moved by the Chairman of the Departmental Committee, and I know that they won. view
  • 5 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion. I want to commend the Minister and his staff for the good work they are doing. I will start by saying that our national carrier, Kenya Airways, has been doing well since the new management took over. I want to repeat by also congratulating the Managing Director who is doing a good job. I know that this airline has very good staff. The cabin crew is very well behaved. They do a good job and should be encouraged by being paid good salaries. I ... view

  • 5 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, indeed, it is common knowledge that land throughout this nation has been grabbed by various people. But I think I have a feeling that my friend who is sitting opposite has not grabbed anything! Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I said, Eldoret International Airport was once described as a white elephant, and I am glad to say that it is not. This airport is serving many farmers from Uasin Gishu, North Rift in general and western Kenya. I am appealing today that Mr. Naikuni, who is a very good Managing Director of Kenya Airways, ... view
