  • 27 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: assault cases by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation. We want to know how the hospital is going to follow up the cases they mishandled in terms of treatment. It is only through the work of a technical committee, linked to this House’s Departmental Committee, that we can make a difference. Therefore, I see these bad incidences as an opportunity for us to sort out the mess at KNH once and for all. This is what is happening in other hospitals. Even at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital, we have cases. I remember one case where a woman was raped within a ... view

  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to join my colleagues in passing my deep sincere condolences to the entire family of His Excellency Governor Wahome Gakuru, the people of Nyeri, the entire Kenyan fraternity, and the Council of Governors because I believe they had an expectation from each of them. I give these condolences on my own behalf and my family, which is closely known to the Governor. view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: I want to thank the people of Kandara Constituency. This accident occurred at a place called Makenzi or in my language Makenji. This area has had other serious accidents. It happened very early in the morning and people started calling me. I am happy that at that particular time, there were people of good will. Ordinary Kenyans came to his aid and assisted in taking him to hospital. Taking into account what has been said about social media, there are people who assisted in that particular time of need. This area is on the dual carriageway on the Thika Superhighway. ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Having said that, for the people of Nyeri, it is time to reflect on these losses. We want to condole with you and support you as you mourn. As Kenyans, we have had serious issues in the country and looking at the condolences coming to this Floor, it is obvious that Members are condoling as one family. We need to move that way as a family of Parliament. It is important to take note. Nyeri has been really unfortunate in losing their governors. One would want to look at Kenya. Devolution has lost a very good brain. Governor Gakuru would ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: With those words, I want to say my sincere condolences to this young family, including the young man who is sitting for his exams. It must be very difficult. We want to remember them in prayers, as a family. Mr. Nderitu Gachagua left after a very long illness. So, it cannot be easy for parliamentarians from that county. • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Although my equipment shows that I am communicating using German language, I do not know if that is what the HANSARD is recording. However, the Governor of CBK comes from my constituency and I know his family very well. Is it in order for the Leader of the Majority Party to raise such a personal issue in terms of salary? The salary of an individual is a right of that individual. How he uses his salary is personal; it is not a public resource because he is not a personal employee. The Leader of the Majority ... view
  • 25 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to speak to this amendment. At the outset, I agree with my sisters that we oppose this amendment. view
  • 25 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: The two Hon. Members walking out now have been a problem in this House when it comes to matters gender. We are being told about progression and there is a Supreme Court decision that talks about progressive application. The Kenyan society spoke when we passed the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya in 2010. Within that Constitution, the country captured in Articles 27, 81 and 100 the case of marginalisation, affirmative action and marginalised groups. To date, we have done nothing as the National Assembly to bring legislative mechanisms to support those provisions. It is appalling and regrettable that four-and-a-half ... view
