  • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I had an intervention for hon. Mbadi, but he has been saved by time. I want to support the adjournment Motion moved by the Leader of Majority Party. I must say that there are sins of commission and omission. I think omission is worse. It is wrong for the Member to stand here when he had an opportunity to express himself in that Committee and failed to do so. But now he is trying to hoodwink the House and the nation that he was against that Committee. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report ... view

  • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: It is time we went on recess. Many of us have several cheques that are waiting to be given to the constituents. It is time to go and bond with our constituents and, of course, with other Members. I wish to inform hon. Mbadi that I am available to visit Suba. He could invite me because we have agreed that we need to work together. It is time to renew our good spirits after having had very serious engagements on the Floor of the House. I am happy that this afternoon, we have also engaged on the National Police Service ... view

  • 3 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support the Presidential Address to the nation on the state of national security and also on the country’s obligation to international governance and treaties. I want to go on record saying that I commend His Excellency for the broad statements that he provided. I think if they were put on a score card, I would possibly give His Excellency 60 per cent to 70 per cent .I think being his first year of his Government, he has shown that the The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information ... view
  • 3 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: I was urging the members of the Muslim community, Kenyans at large and all of us to be vigilant, particularly because we have also seen radicalisation amongst some communities or youth; radicalisation is not necessarily by Muslims only. I think we need to be careful as communities as to our children’s activities. I am also thinking that our security organs need to up their game, especially in gathering intelligence and verifying its accuracy. The security agencies should also put into good use the intelligence that they gather. I have looked at the intelligence that was gathered. I have looked at ... view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to support the Appropriation Bill. I also want to say that I am back from Geneva, where the Inter-Parliamentary Union was going on. We did very well because we brought home two seats. I also heard somebody from the Senate Floor saying that by the National Assembly sending Members there, it was running away from business. I bring greetings to you from the General Assembly from Geneva. I wish to thank you, hon. Speaker, for the nomination. I am concerned about a statement that was made by Dr. Chris Wamalwa. ... view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: expenses related to tea and flowers. We have fleets of vehicles assigned for use by people who cannot even afford to maintain their own vehicles. Some of them now have between three and four chase cars. Those are the areas we must look at, particularly with the governance system that we have adopted. When we talk of auditing, it does not mean that this House is not supporting devolution. The enemies of devolution are those people who are not willing to evaluate what devolution have brought to this country, two years down the line. We must agree that appropriation is ... view
