Amina Abdalla

Amina has been nominated to the House more than any other politician. Her first employment was in 1993 at GTZ a German government development agency, through which she was involved in rescue work at Daadab Refugee camp in North Eastern Kenya. Her mobilization skills granted her favour with donors, and as a result the World Conservation Union employed her as a regional coordinator. In 2002 she took leave of absence from her work place to campaign for Uhuru Kenyatta, the person she owes her three nominations to parliament. Amina who is an environmental scientist encourages women to invest in political parties and explore avenues of owning them.

  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I contributed yesterday and mentioned that we are not looking at Justice Ringera the individual. view
  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: In fact, I admitted to this House, with the interaction that my Committee has had with the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) and Justice Ringera, we appreciated the challenges he has vis-a’-vis premeditated mega corruption. We appreciated that he has problems. What I disagree with Prof. Saitoti on is for him to make this matter that we are raising which is a matter relating to process, to an individual issue. Personally, I can say to this House that if Justice Ringera went through the right process, I would be the first one to vote for him because I believe that the ... view
  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: We are not dealing with individuals: We respect the Presidency but when something is wrong, give us the opportunity to try and correct it. You have the chance to come and vote here and say if the Committee so proposes and you disagree, come and convince us. Try to get as many people to vote on your side. It is wrong for our Ministers to come here and give us selective interpretation. Mr. M. Kilonzo knows that the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs was very clear in re-appointing members of the Advisory Board because we felt that they ... view
  • 2 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to oppose the Motion of Adjournment. Parliament is always complaining about the fact that we do not have the necessary muscle. We have gone so far as amending our Standing Orders, so that we can flex our muscles and show outrage when we are outraged. This House is not outraged by the fact that the individual Justice Aron Ringera has been reappointed. But we are outraged by the Executive’s impunity of breaking a law that this House passed and getting away with it. The Executive is taking this House for granted. If the Executive ... view
  • 2 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I urge our colleagues who are not here to vote when there are important matters but only vote on Motions for Adjournment if they are really serious, they should let us stay until tomorrow, unless the Executive rescinds that Gazette Notice. The Government side should bring the Appropriation Bill to this House tomorrow afternoon, we do what we have already given notice to do, which is to amend that Bill to delete the budget of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) and then we go on recess. Why are they in a hurry to go home when ... view
  • 2 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am one of the few Members in the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs who has had Justice Aaron Ringera’s challenges. We might even have been sympathetic to his candidature. By the Executive going behind the back of the law to re-appoint him has not done him any favour. I urge the Members of view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Did you hear Prof. Anyang’-Nyong’o say that he hopes that the Minister has the appropriate confidence in the list from the Chief Justice? Is he in order to second this Motion when he has not read the CVs of the listed persons? view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to support that amendment. The request for the Ministerial Statement by Mr. Olago was as a result of a finding by the Committee on Delegated Legislation of the delay by the Executive and the Judiciary on matters that are delegated to them such as this Tribunal. view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: The raising of this is a wakeup call to all the Members of the Front Bench and the members of the Judiciary that we will raise those delegated pieces of legislation that you are not bringing to the House in a timely manner or that are inconsistent with the current legislation. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it was justifiable for Kenya to have given sanctuary to SPLA forces during the 18 years of war in Sudan. But what justification view
