Amina Abdalla

Amina has been nominated to the House more than any other politician. Her first employment was in 1993 at GTZ a German government development agency, through which she was involved in rescue work at Daadab Refugee camp in North Eastern Kenya. Her mobilization skills granted her favour with donors, and as a result the World Conservation Union employed her as a regional coordinator. In 2002 she took leave of absence from her work place to campaign for Uhuru Kenyatta, the person she owes her three nominations to parliament. Amina who is an environmental scientist encourages women to invest in political parties and explore avenues of owning them.

  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: , the high class person who is taking cocaine or some more advanced and expensive drug to even the person in the village who is addicted to kumi kumi . That means, as a nation, we have a responsibility to provide treatment to drug addicts who cannot afford the expensive rehabilitation programmes that the private sector has put in place. So, I would suggest that this Authority would then be able to transfer, legally, from the Ministry of Health to that Authority the power to co- ordinate and ensure that the rehabilitation centres are regulated, have qualified staff and programmes ... view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move. I would like to take November 12, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3411 this opportunity to ask Mr. Elias Mbau to second the Motion. view
  • 11 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister to tell us that he is setting up a committee to investigate whether people were beaten when an agency of the Government; the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), has the report showing the Imams and the number of people who are lying in hospital after being beaten and the 15 women who were raped? Why does he want to take us round in circles by forming committees? view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister confirm that some of the financial intermediaries that have been recruited by the Ministry are charging women almost 24 per cent interest on the loans offered? view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order to ask the Leader of Government Business to have an orientation workshop for all Ministers and Assistant Ministers on the development disparities between districts in this country? view
  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. Did you hear the Assistant Minister say that he is not aware that there are special circumstances for people from northern Kenyan when they are asking for identity cards? There is a vetting committee in Nyayo House that interviews every single applicant from northern Kenya! view
  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. It could be because Mr. Murungi threatened that there is the possibility of men being changed to women! view
  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, my colleagues have elaborated how the lives of Kenyans have been badly affected by the increase of oil prices. The fact that the Ministry has acted impotently shows that it has remained a lame duck. I will not elaborate on how miserable the lives of Kenyans have been made by the prices of fuel because that has been well articulated by my colleagues. My plea is to the Ministry: How could the Ministry have its hands tied by the multinationals if they do not wish to be in that position? It is very simple that the ... view
  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Before the hon. Member on the Floor continues speaking, I think he needs to declare his interest in this matter. view
  • 23 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Chairman, Sir, we had issues on Clause 10(c) regarding the involvement of Parliament in the nominating of the Eminent Africans. I think we need to get back to Clause 10(c). In 2(a), it is saying that the commissioners to be appointed under Sub-Section (b) shall be recommended by the Panel of Eminent African Personalities. The others shall be nominated by Parliament. Parliament will then forward the names to the President for appointment. view
