  • 7 Sep 2021 in Senate: I remember when President Moi came to power, they were not saying that he was a Kalenjin. They said that he was from a minority tribe of Tugen, which was a minor Kalenjin sub-tribe. That was the emphasis. Because of that, he was able to bring Kenya together. Other leaders such as President Nyerere of Tanzania came from one of the minor tribes in Tanzania. President Kaunda who passed on recently came from one of the minor tribes in Zambia. In fact, there were more people of his tribe in Malawi than in Zambia. People used to say that his ... view

  • 13 Jul 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to speak on this Amendment. Let me first congratulate Sen. (Dr.) Zani for bringing this Amendment. In a sense, it is a pity that we had to come up with this Amendment, because in any democratic and institutional society, public officers are supposed to act on these issues without being forced. The Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations has recommended the conferment of city status to Nakuru Municipality. When I was admitted at Alliance High School, I took a train from Kisumu to Kikuyu and we passed through Nakuru Railway Station. At that time--- view
  • 3 Jun 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I was actually going to “the Alliance High School”. It is not just Alliance High School. I know that there are some late developers who never went to Alliance High School but they have developed very well thereafter. Given the opportunity, their children might go to Alliance High School. view

It had also been voted as the cleanest town in the whole of East Africa. We had not yet obtained our Independence. Nakuru was basically the headquarters of the ‘White’ settler community at that time. They had elevated the status of Nakuru and it was the best town in East Africa. It is my hope that they will work hard to go back to that status when we confer it to city status. This Town ... view
