  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: I welcome Sen. Kavindu Muthama. Continue to work the way you used to in the BBI, and I am sure the people of Machakos will realise and know they have made a good choice. What Sen. Wetangula referred to when I heard you say that on your nomination day, be a politician, how can you say, ‘respect my husband’. I even shouted in my room, ‘be a politician!’ However, I know you are issue orientated and you will keep this House on issues which relate not just to women but also the poor people; the ‘hustlers’ as you may call ... view
  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, very much for giving me this opportunity. I thought I should speak on this matter because when I was the Attorney General, a group of people came to see me to from the Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya. I got interested, registered the association and did a fundraiser for them to take off. When I went to that fundraiser and saw how much the children were suffering, I was so moved because that was the type of disability which is not taken care of institutionally. In other countries, they learn to do something and they become useful members of the society rather than just being left there and being taken as signs of bad luck to the families where they were born. Thank you very much, Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve, for the comprehensive Statement that you have given. I would like to have a copy of it if I can for my record and for future reference. If there is any assistance that you would want us to do, do not forget to get in ... view

  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: I believe I heard Sen. Murkomen, who is an eminent lawyer say that he belongs to the Jubilee Party and UDA. Is that in order? I believe that under our Constitution and our laws you are supposed to belong to only one party and not two. • 9 Feb 2021 in Senate: When we review the Standing Orders, we should do some slight amendments here. On the list, we have seven Members to be approved by this House. To me, those seven are able and I endorse them. However, the Standing Orders provide for nine Senators. Actually we should have had nine but I am told that they are seven because you have taken into account Standing Order No.178(4) which states that- view
