  • 16 Oct 2018 in Senate: I am glad that this Bill provides for catering for students who denounce radicalisation. We should not punish them. The punishment here can mean being shot on sight, tried and put in custody or imprisoned for many years and, therefore, losing one’s life on this earth. This is because by the time an individual comes out of prison, he will be too old to do anything useful for himself. Instead of punishing them, I am glad the approach of this Bill is to rehabilitate our youths. view
  • 16 Oct 2018 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I fully support the provisions of Clause 12(e)(1) and (f) on rehabilitation. It should be used so that our youths are also given a second chance. We, as Christians, normally say that our God is a God of second chances. If one does one mistake, he should be forgiven and given a second chance to become a useful member of the society. This Bill wants to give our youths who have been radicalised a second chance to become useful members of our society. view

  • 11 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for that clarification. It is, indeed, a very sad day that we have to come here yet again and speak on the unwarranted loss of lives of many Kenyans through an accident. This is not the first time this has happened. Each time this happens, we come here and decry our rules and regulations for not being enforced. We issue very strong statements like: “Never again will this happen or will motor vehicles be driven at night.” I can assure you that next week, something like this may happen. One thing that we need ... view
  • 11 Oct 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, let us have a new culture. Let me conclude by conveying my condolences to the bereaved families. I know and it appears as if most of those families come from my part of the world. I ask our counties in western Kenya to emulate the example of the Governor for Kericho and assist the families in burying the dead. view
  • 9 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make my contribution on this very important Bill. I also want to commend Sen. Cheruiyot for having come up with this Bill. He is one of the youngest Members in this Senate and yet he is mindful of other people’s welfare, in particular, the older members of society. I want to commend him as a young man for being mindful of our welfare, and as the Bible says: “Your days on this planet earth have been increased.” May I also talk about the definition in the Constitution of ... view
