  • 16 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. We want a statement from the right Minister on this matter. Hon. Munyes has tried his best, under famine relief, but he is not able to respond to the question we are asking here. Could I request that the Minister in charge of disaster management comes to issue a statement to this august House? view
  • 1 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. It would appear we have a choice between the report from Mr. Kagwima and the Assistant Minister. In that meeting, the Provincial Commissioner (PC) and the chief of security intelligence must have been there. I suggest that you try and get an independent assessment from the PC and the security intelligence to know who is telling us the truth. view
  • 19 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a very serious matter. Beyond the Government pursuing KTDA, could the Assistant Minister tell us whether they have identified the particular officers in the KTDA who undertook this shoddy deal? How can this happen, that there is no security and tea is released without payment? They must have identified the particular officer who dealt with it. This is a very serious matter! view
  • 18 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for issuing a very elaborate Ministerial Statement. The situation in South Africa is really worrying. My own son was attacked in South Africa, and robbed of all his belongings, including his passport and the money he was carrying. I would like to request the Assistant Minister to pursue this matter to the very end. Although we have our own problem here of increased crime, the situation in South Africa is really at the worst end. In fact, crime in that country is not targeted to Kenyans in particular. • 27 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, one of the problems that led to the accident that occurred at Busia Airstrip in 2003 was the length of the runway. I did not hear the Assistant Minister, with regard to the rehabilitation works that are going to be done, indicate that they are going to lengthen the runway to ensure that the aircraft would land and take off safely on that airstrip. 2050 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES June 27, 2007 view
  • 27 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister tell this House the reasons for withholding the pension of the retired Head of Public Service, Dr. Sally Kosgey? view
  • 20 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for allowing me the opportunity to air my views on this very important Motion. First, I want to commend the Minister for a reasonably well-argued Budget, and commend the Government for revenue collection, which has clearly gone up over the last four or five years. The 6.1 per cent growth rate that was forecast for this year will probably be achieved. But that has yet to be translated into tangible benefits for the poor mwananchi out there. view
  • 20 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for, once again, giving me the opportunity to contribute to this important Motion. I had just said that we commend the Minister for a well-argued Budget Speech, and the fact that the emphasis was on the right sectors, particularly education, infrastructure, health and agriculture. I hope that the money that has been set aside, particularly for infrastructure, will ensure that our roads, which are in very bad shape, are repaired. That we have allowed our roads to deteriorate to the levels they are at, particularly our major highways, is such a sad story. ... view
  • 25 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if the hon. Member had not asked this Question, that poor lady would not have been paid that money. Does the Ministry not have a system of ensuring that all those monies are duly given to the affected persons, instead of waiting until an hon. Member asks a Question here? view
  • 18 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Minister in order to challenge the ruling of the Chair? The Chair assisted and asked him to go and counter-check this information from the other relevant authorities, but now he is challenging it on the Floor of this House! Is he in order? view
