  • 27 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, that is a very good question. However, as you know, for a very long time, women have been marginalised. Now when we talk of "gender", we include everybody but, for the time being, we have mainly to cater for women. I have, however, taken your point and we shall put it across so that men can also have their Fund. I would like to request the hon. Member to ask men to start a Maendeleo ya Wanaume (MYW) organization. view
  • 27 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have not been very much aware, but given the amount of money that we have and the amount of money we gave the micro-finance institutions, it appears that they have given only very little. We shall, therefore, change tact and see what to do. It appears to be true that they are selling their products. We shall address that. view

In that regard, the Ministry has now deregistered them from the list. They will not be included in the next allocation. view

  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is very unfortunate that a district like Samburu does not have--- How does it pay its people? We have banks in Samburu! view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, there is a bank in Maralal and we are making arrangements to assist in disbursing those funds to the women. view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the arrangement we have is that the Kenya Commercial Bank in Maralal will handle that issue. When you talk about Maralal and Samburu being different districts, you should consider the fact that some districts were formed recently. They do not have their district headquarters. They are still using the old district headquarters. For example, Kakamega has four districts. All of them are still using the banking institutions in Kakamega Central Town. That district is old. view
