• 6 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. In this same area, the community has lost over 80 per cent of its livestock and, therefore, there is a continuous food shortage. It has also been reported that a number of deaths of women and children have occurred in the same area as a result of starvation and that nearly 60 of them have now been admitted to Isiolo District Hospital. Could the Minister confirm this situation and inform the House what action he has taken to alleviate the impending human catastrophe in that region? I know the Chair personally has the benefit of knowing where Garissa is by virtue of coming from Mwingi South. You know very well that the Northern Water Services Board represents districts like Moyale, Marsabit, Samburu and Isiolo, including all the districts in North Eastern Province. The Assistant Minister wants to convince this House that when they located the headquarters in Garissa, among other things, the issue of centrality was taken into account in terms of geographical location. Could the Assistant Minister undertake to find a way of mainstreaming them into the legal framework? He could bring an amendment to the relevant law to the House, so that they can be recognised by the law? view
• 3 May 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I see the difference between what the Assistant Minister and the hon. Member are saying. The hon. Member is saying that there was an advertisement for the 2005 applications. He wants the names of the people who applied in 2005. However, the Assistant Minister said that there was no advertisement for 2005 applications. He picked applicants from the list of 2004. Could they, please, synchronise the two lists? view
