  • 21 Oct 2014 in Senate: Nobody was scampering. I think the Senate Minority Leader should also know that he is a leader in his own right and he should address this issue. If you feel that you do not want to address the Presidential Speech, you should do it with decorum. view
  • 21 Oct 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Senate Minority Leader in order to say that the President was wasting his time to call the two Houses for a sitting and yet the Constitution gives him that right to do so? view

  • 21 Oct 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker Sir, I stand on a point of order just because of The Hague issue. We should not play circus in the Senate. Let us be very serious with this institution of the Senate. Most of us, seated in this Senate today, were part of the issues before The Hague today. Therefore, when one stands up to tell the country that The Hague is no longer an issue is wrong. At that time when the issue of The Hague was addressed in this House, the Senate Minority Leader who is my leader from western Kenya, was in the ... view

  • 2 Oct 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, pursuant to Standing Orders No.28 (4) and 53(b) of the Senate Standing Orders and following the challenges in the management and operations in Makueni and Isiolo counties, the Senate resolves to alter its calendar regular sessions for an adjournment commencing today, Thursday, 2nd October, 2014, to resume on Tuesday, 21st October, 2014 to allow the Senate intervene in the reconciliation process in the two counties. view
  • 2 Oct 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this Motion. As we seek to adjourn, it is important to note that governors have decided to work together. That is why they push their agenda and it sails through. Whilst we know that we have challenges, they have money and that is why the courts and the lawyers have decided to be their friends because there is a lot of public wastage of funds that can be paid to every individual who wants to stand for them. The issue of Isiolo County is very critical. As much as I know ... view

  • 2 Oct 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this House must decide whether it wants to stand, support, defend and protect the interests of county governments or whether it wants to close shop and go home. The reason we are fighting and struggling with this Senate today is because most of the Members have not taken seriously the issues that brought them to the Senate. Therefore, governors have taken advantage of the way we take our politics; we play very good politics outside but we are not doing the right things inside the House. Today, Isiolo is burning with serious issues. We must look into ... view
  • 30 Sep 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget. In the statement, I would wish the Chairperson to explain to the Senate how many counties have complied with the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) system of accounting and state what measures the governors have taken to ensure local revenue is collected as per the law and also showcase what projects the resources are funding.
