  • 17 May 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to thank my friend Hon. Ochieng for bringing this important Bill to this House. This Bill is intended to protect the domestic industry from foreign competitors who are dumping their materials in this country. Many years back, we had so many industries in this country, particularly the ones that used to produce textiles. We had the Mount Kenya Textiles, KICOMI, Rivatex and many others. They used to create a lot of opportunities for our youth but, today, we have many highly educated youth and they are not ... view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Bill by my friend, Hon. Sang. It has come at the right time. Clinical officers are the backbone of the medical profession. For example, this time when the doctors are on strike, clinical officers are working day and night to save the lives of our people. They work under very difficult conditions; say, without proper facilities and equipment. But they still manage to save lives. view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: It is also very important for qualified clinical officers to be given licences so that they can operate privately. Those who intend to remain in public service can be supported by the Government. At this time when the doctors are on strike, it is the clinical officers who are taking care of our people. view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: The profession of clinical officers has been forgotten. I support what my colleagues have said to the effect that we need to have a referendum where we can revert the health sector to the national Government. That is because the governors have failed this country. They have not been able to take care of the health sector. It is high time it was taken back to the national Government. I support this important Bill. view

  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion by Hon. Ochieng. We have talked about drought not once, but many times in this country. I know that there are those who have the responsibility to see that we have enough food in this country. I am not sure of the person I am supposed to blame, but I want to say that those who have the responsibility to see that our children go to school, our rivers do not dry and that our domestic and wild animals in national parks are not dying are ... view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: We are talking about the school feeding programme in our schools which is supposed to be taken seriously. I have been going to the Ministry of Devolution and Planning offices in Tharaka Nithi County every day. I want to thank the Ministry because it has been feeding the people of Tharaka Sub-County. In Tharaka Nithi, some areas usually have enough food, but at this particular time, people are going hungry and children are not going to school. I have heard the President say that relief food is going to be distributed. To date, we have not received anything. Those who ... view
  • 16 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand under Standing Order No. 95. When you listen to what Members are saying, they are just repeating themselves. Can you call upon the Mover to respond? Thank you. view
  • 30 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support the amendment by the Chair. It is important to have the correct grammar so that the Bill can have some meaning. view
  • 23 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. I sit in the PIC. I want to thank my very able Chairman for the good job that we have done. The YEDF was meant to assist the youth of this country but the people who were given the responsibility of taking care of the Fund have not done what was expected of them. They have misappropriated the money that was meant for empowerment of our youth to enable them build stable families that can take care of themselves. The youth, who are supposed to assist in developing this ... view
