  • 1 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: promised economic growth of two digits. Everybody in a leadership position is expected to assist the Government to attain that two-digit economic growth. Each one of us in a leadership position, whether elected or appointed, should be accountable to the taxpayer. We are expected to uphold integrity, the rule of law and good governance. We are alive to the fact that a culture of large-scale looting of taxpayers‟ money, sufficient proof of mass corruption and abuse of office, particularly in our counties, are taking us back from attaining our national aspirations and dreams to a state of hopelessness. I want ... view
  • 1 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: We know that these leaders use all sorts of means to take public funds. In our county, we know that the support to the elderly people was approved but because they pay these elderly people through their simcards, it has been discovered that in individuals‟ homes, there are several simcards which are being used to siphon public money that the individuals go to use. Using the same means, they were able to take away money that was meant for the disabled people within our county. So, if an individual can manage to take away money meant for the disabled people ... view

  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I want to say that the boda boda industry has really played a critical role in creating employment for many Kenyans. I want to say that the sector has provided many households with income. They are also able to provide family and community support from that sector. The contribution by boda boda operators to our communities has been felt. There are so many positive contributions like payment of fees and medical bills. It is unfortunate that the cost of training and acquisition of driving licences is still a challenge ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: margins from it are still very low, especially considering that most of those boda boda operators are servicing loans from the acquisition of their motorcycles. We are also supposed to look at ways of dealing with the lending rates from financial institutions in our country. That is because those boda boda people are really having problems servicing their loans. That means that for them to make profits from that business is a problem. Boda boda operators are law abiding citizens and they are struggling to make their ends meet. We have a duty as a nation to support them. We ... view

  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this time. I want to start by saying that I congratulate the Mover, hon. (Ms.) Odhiambo- Mabona for coming up with this Bill. This Bill will assist in restoring public confidence in the management of our judicial processes in Kenya. Members of the public have been living in fear. They have feared the judicial system, courts, judges and magistrates and the way they are handling our cases in Kenya. I want to be specific that in Part IV of this Bill, where we have officers dealing with victims being required to ... view

So, this Bill will assist in the same. view
  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: The victims’ protection trust fund is also another element which will assist the victims to meet the expenses arising from the services provided to them. I also want to point out that the requirement by the Bill that the Cabinet Secretary should establish the victim services in all counties is a welcome idea and this will ensure that there is equal access by all the citizens across the country to services without prejudice, discrimination or leaving some areas without such services. view
  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: We also have, as a country, to look critically at other victims – like the victims of corruption or economic crimes. Recently, we had a police recruitment exercise and there are so many people who fell victim to corruption, where they were forced to pay some money. All those people are victims. So, this is a Bill that we all support because it will assist in various ways. view
