The effect of this is that the institutions which are defined here are allowed by the Central Bank of Kenya to open accounts. So, microfinance banks will open accounts with the CBK like other normal banks. view

  • 16 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is meant to bring microfinance under the institutions that can be given loans by the CBK. We are also bringing in microfinance to the normal banking system. The overall effect of the amendments I have read under that section is to enable the CBK, just like it does to the banks, to extend loans to microfinance banks as and when necessary. view
