Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, the First Schedule be amended in paragraph 1 by deleting subparagraph (3) and substituting therefor the following new subparagraph— “(3) A person who holds the office of chairperson is not eligible for re- election until after the expiry of a period of at least two years since he or she vacated the office.” If you look at subparagraph 3, you will find that it provides that if you have ever held a position as a Chair, then you are no longer allowed to vie again. If people want to elect you to serve them as a chair, and you have given them a two years break, it is fair that we allow anybody to seek re-election later on, unless we also pass in this House that the term for Members of Parliament should be fixed to two terms. view
