We have got quite a number of Members of Parliament who have contributed and supported it. I am aware that we still have two other Members of Parliament who would want to contribute. Given that I have enough time to reply, with you permission, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would request that ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to join my colleagues in thanking the petitioner for bringing this worthy petition. This Government has the Nyumba Kumi programme. The managers of Nyumba Kumi initiative are these village elders. I was just wondering how a Government can bring a programme that it is not ready to pay for. I think when the committee is looking at the petition, it should look at ways and means of paying the current village elders some kind of salary, so that they can work hard for the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to join my colleagues in sympathizing with my colleague who is my counterpart on the minority side because of the experience he went through when the EACC officers went to investigate his office. As Hon. Wandayi says, I want to encourage my brother Hon. Chris Wamwalwa to allow officers to do their work. The truth of the matter is that if you are operating transparently and in accountable manner you should not fear officers coming to investigate your office.
