  • 21 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: to ask the Minister of State for Defence:- (a) Could the Minister explain why army recruits in the ongoing recruitment exercise from South Wanga in Mumias Constituency were not given a chance and instead referred to Matungu in the neighbouring constituency? • 13 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads whether he could consider allocating extra funds for road maintenance to constituencies such as Mumias that are currently facing heavy rainfall? view
  • 13 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. While I take this opportunity to thank the Minister for that answer, I am happy to note that through KERA, you are carrying out an assessment throughout the country to identify areas where you will add money. However, with regard to the roads in Mumias, would you tell us when because as we speak now, some of the roads are not in use? view
  • 13 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for all the answers he has put forward. I do not know whether this is unique to Mumias, but during the Financial Year 2009/2010, Mumias had been allocated Kshs8.5 million. As I speak, only Kshs3.5 million has been received by the regional office, Western Province, for Mumias Constituency. When I visited the headquarters, they told me that Kshs5 million had been retained for administration. We had allocated Kshs8 million for the repair of Mumias/Busanda Road. What is the Minister doing to make sure that, that money is sent to ... view
  • 13 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am also going by the law. I am referring to what was in the 2009/2010 Budget. Out of the Kshs8.5 million that was allocated under the 10 per cent, only Kshs3.5 million has been received for Mumias Constituency. What is the Minister doing about the balance? That money had been budgeted for a particular road. view
  • 30 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Agriculture the following Question by Private Notice. view
  • 30 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: (a) Could the Minister provide a list of both theoretical and actual prices of how Mumias Sugar Factory has been paying farmers for cane delivered from June, 2010 to date? (b) How much money have the Mumias farmers lost from the difference in price since Mumias Sugar Company stopped honouring the formula given by the Kenya Sugar Board? view
  • 30 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Assistant Minister for that honest answer. It is not many times you receive this kind of answer in this House. You have heard from the Assistant Minister that in four months, Mumias farmers have lost a whooping Kshs881 million. No wonder the poverty index in Mumias still stands at 76 per cent! view
  • 30 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Kenya Sugar Board (KSB) which operates under his Ministry has among other functions, to facilitate an equitable mechanism for the pricing of sugarcane. What is the Assistant Minister going to do, now that it has become very clear that farmers have not been receiving their fair share of the price? view
