25 Sep 2013 in Senate:
Thank you Madam Temporary Speaker for allowing me to address the honourable Senators. I thank you very much from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my family, my sister Catherine and other Kenyans who have gone through this terrible thing. We were with you yesterday and received your contributions and condolences for all of us who were unlucky to be part of the families that suffered loss. It is very hard to explain how, not only what my family but all the other 60 something families who were caught up in the tragedy, feel. I also thank ...

19 Sep 2013 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like to request the Senator answering the Statement whether the Government can consider and, particularly the Nairobi administration, a better way of handling these issues other than demolishing these places in the middle of the night. In those demolitions, sometimes there are families involved. As a result, this causes disturbances. We know that sometimes children have even died during these kinds of demolitions. In this era, this should not happen. This means somebody somewhere is not doing their job to make sure these buildings never came up in the first place. The person who ...

10 Sep 2013 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I support the Motion. I also add that this is a political court which cannot give justice. The court has admitted that politics is involved in this case. It looks like the prosecutor is an extension of the opposition politics of Kenya. Where they could not win, they are trying to come to power through the back door, thinking that the President can remain there and they will vuruga here and take over. As a Senate, we must insist that the cases be brought back home. The President and the Deputy President are the pride of any ...

11 Jul 2013 in Senate:
Madam Temporary Speaker, is the Senator in order to mislead this House by saying that the Coalition Government that he was talking about as aiding women was just playing politics, when we know women who benefitted from those billions that he is talking about? It is true and I can affirm that in my constituency; I know many groups and many other areas which benefitted from this program of the Coalition Government. It was not just political talk, and I think the Senator is misleading this House. Can he prove and substantiate that there was no help going to women ...

11 Jul 2013 in Senate:
Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. It is a very important Motion and I want to congratulate the Mover, Sen. Elachi, because it is very timely. As we have always said, the foundation of any nation is its youth. We can never realize sustainable development unless we train and model our youths. Indeed, that is what I believe was in the mind of those who started the NYS. As we know, in many other countries, there is either service in the forces where they trained to protect their countries and in others, there is some kind of ...

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the hon. Senator for Bungoma in order to give an example of the Senator for Nyeri when we know that the Senator for Bungoma is one of the richest Senators in this House? If he wants me to mention when and how, I know about his assets and I can say it here.

10 Jul 2013 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the hon. Senator in order to keep on repeating that we depend on the former colonialists and yet Kenya provides over 95 per cent of its own Budget? We only need very little help from outside to run our education, health and all other sectors, including agriculture. Seriously even when we import maize, Kenya pays for it. So, we should give ourselves a bit of credit. For us, we appreciate our development partners---
