  • 2 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I just want to inform the House that I was supposed to give a Ministerial Statement on aflatoxin. I understand that this morning there was a lot of name calling and allegations that I had run out instead of giving the Statement. I want to inform this House that according to HANSARD, I am required to give that Statement this afternoon, as the Deputy Leader of Government Business had said. I was out of the country. In light of that, this House owes me an apology. Hon. Members said very bad things ... view
  • 2 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Secondly, I am ready to issue the Statement if you call upon me to do that. view
  • 13 Oct 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, with your permission, we have agreed with the Member that this Question be answered comprehensively on Tuesday next week. I also had written to the Chair this morning. view
  • 13 Oct 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, meanwhile, we have taken emergency actions which we continue to take. It is a continuous deterrent process and we are doing it. view
  • 13 Oct 2011 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to assure the House that urgent measures are being taken. We will continue to take them in that whole region. view

We have seen examples of those women who would have lost the chance to come to this House just because they were women. They will mainly go into areas where the parties are not popular. That is where they will be allowed to stand. I support. view
  • 26 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I want to strongly support this amendment. This House must be honest. If we really support the spirit of gender equity, if we support the two-thirds clause, then it is double standards when the only route out of this problem is presented, we reject it. We know that the country cannot carry another nomination to bring the number of women to two thirds after 290 seats. That will be impossible as far as expenses are concerned for this country. If there is goodwill in this House, we can show the way and the country that ... view
  • 26 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I think we said in this Bill that this decision does not affect those who have been Members of Parliament. I think we had such a Clause in the Bill, unless it was removed. We must save all Members of Parliament. view
  • 26 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I thank you for the opportunity. I would say very few words. view
  • 26 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: First of all, I am really dismayed and worried. We started this from the Eighth Parliament, the Ninth, and now it is the Tenth, and it is the same kind of reaction from our male colleagues. I am really shocked that nothing has changed. Once things are put on the Paper and you do not even want to listen--- view
