  • 20 Apr 2023 in Senate: Equalization Fund. We should vehemently refuse any attempt to delay the one-half of the audited accounts that is called Equalization Fund that is supposed to go to these people. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, what is more, medical personnel, nurses, paramedics, clinical officers and doctors do not want to go to work in those places. Therefore, we still have a situation in Kenya where an 18-year-old girl carrying a normal pregnancy loses life because there were no medical personnel to midwife her delivery. Equalization Funds must be released. In the meantime, as we wait for the perfect situation, we still have ... view
  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. That is a very practical Petition. He is speaking to a real issue. In fact, he is telling us that we have failed. People continuing to die while crossing roads that are designed and constructed by professionals beats logic. view

  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: I, therefore, support the Petition and make the following remarks: One, even as we build a footbridge, are the traffic lights in Nairobi working? Where the traffic lights are working, why do the traffic police come there to interfere with them? The traffic lights are prompting you to move yet the police block you, hence promoting congestion in the process. To me, that is lack of functionality in the police traffic department. My second comment is on the Nairobi Expressway. This was an idea, which ordinarily should have been a game changer. However, there are aspects of that highway that ... view
  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I rise to seek further clarification on the Statement by Sen. Chute about Buxton. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is a scandal in the making. In fact, it is a clever confidence game, meant to swindle the people of Mombasa County of 10 acres of prime land. The land in Buxton goes for Kshs300 million per acre and since they are developing 10 acres, that is Kshs3 billion. I wish to be clearly understood as to why this is an attempt to swindle us. Against that Kshs3billion of prime land, the strategy is to build 2,000 ... view
  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you have been around the world and you have gone to this kind of project on the island of Hong Kong. At a similar island in Hong Kong, they have put up skyscrapers. What they are putting up in Buxton are houses similar to those which were pulled down. Where is the logic? We should just stop it. The entire Senate should just go there, charging and singing war and circumcision songs and chase out these people. Then they will know we are protecting Mombasa County. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, can they come and table evidence ... view

  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. How I wish it was a full House when the Senator for Kitui was addressing us. He has raised many issues that have formed food for thought about where we want to take this country. view
