I would like that you clarify further because in Article 255(1)(c), the issue of amendment relating to the sovereignty of the people is stated. The provision of Article (1)(2) which says that: “The people may exercise their sovereign power either directly or through their democratically elected representatives.” The Bill that we seek to amend the Constitution through today, is speaking to the elections of those special members. There has been a deliberate effort in the media by some Members of the National Assembly and this Senate to misrepresent the fact that male Senators and male Members of the National Assembly do not support the two-thirds gender rule. Because of that misinformation, I want to congratulate the six women Senators who are here, including Sen. Lesuuda, Sen. Kisasa, Sen. Mugo, Sen. Sijeny, Sen. Omondi and Sen. Ong’era.
