  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, allow me to accept that as a point of information. Since he is close to the President, he knows those things. I can only The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. You know, fighting corruption is difficult. Kenya will be a wonderful world the moment a critical number of Kenyans who are in constitutional offices will make it their business to fight corruption and that is the way to go. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am concerned by what goes on in the 47 counties by virtue of having been the Chairperson of the CPAIC until recently. I really wonder when I see what is happening in the national Government. Could it be that Africans are not ready or fit to lead African governments? The ... view

  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, sorry I am orderly for now. One can laugh at me for these things, especially a member of the public who has never been in my part of the world. However, let me remind you, you who is laughing at me for saying that we are feeling pain for no projects being seen in our place; let me remind you of the story of Correta King who was the wife of Martin Luther King Jnr. During the famous Mississippi walk, a white friend who used to go to the same church with Correta King asked her: ... view
  • 20 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this procedural Motion. I would like to make two points; first, to the distinguished Sen. Elachi, the Chief Whip of the Senate Majority as well as the Chief Whip for the Senate Minority, Sen. Muthama. Those two should make sure that we have Members here tomorrow. I will not mention the two people who should also lead by example. view
  • 20 Apr 2016 in Senate: Secondly, allow me to use this opportunity to congratulate the players of the Kenya Sevens Rugby Team for defeating the Fiji team in Singapore. This is an appropriate time for me to congratulate them because they are also athletes. This Bill will go a long way in supporting them. I beg to support. view
  • 20 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Senate Majority Leader that the Anti-Doping Bill (National Assembly Bill No.6 of 2016) be read a Second time. I have only two points. First, I propose that we look at Clause 6, where the headquarters will be in Nairobi. We do not want to find this thing again, where, for example, we the sugar cane farmers find ourselves. We do sugar cane farming and when we want to sort out our issues; we end up coming to Nairobi as the headquarters. I am not saying that athletes are only in certain ... view
  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is very difficult for one to support the decision of Jubilee. Considering the name of this lady, Dr. Lilian Osamong, it sounds that it could be a competent professional born either in Pokot or Teso. For her to have been lucky enough to get a job through a Government that knows only two tribes, we must support her to stay on that job. She has no other way of getting it. I, therefore, wish to reluctantly persuade the House that when the Committee takes up this matter, they should allow Dr. Lilian Osamong to take the ... view
  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Musila Committee found that the governor paid for the land at the rate of Kshs10 million per acre on the strength of the valuation report. Could the Chairman, for purposes of clarity, also confirm that the valuers who gave those fake valuation reports will also be invited so that they are busted and exposed for their connivance in theft of public funds? view
  • 19 Apr 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The point of order raised by Sen. Billow is extremely important. It will help the Chairperson of my Committee if he remembers that in the last Parliament, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in its Report found the then Governor of Central Bank of Kenya, Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, and hon. Kimunya not fit to hold public office. The Cocker Commission that was subsequently appointed by President Kibaki to look into the sale of Grand Regency Hotel agreed and recommended that the two gentlemen were not fit to hold public office. Therefore, nothing will ... view
