13 Mar 2014 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to contribute to the Report. I beg to support this Report very strongly. Allow me to thank Sen. Mwakulegwa for ably moving the Motion and for leading the Committee, along with his Chair, Sen. Moi, in this tour. Allow me also to thank the Committee for the quality of the Report. Every time I look at reports of this House and I compare them with the reports that we used to have when we were Members of the Lower House, I see the difference. On this Committee, it might ...

13 Mar 2014 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I must confess that I used the word Chinkororo and if you allow me I can correct Sen. (Dr.) Kuti. He does not understand the Kisii Language whereas I do. To some Kenyans, Chinkororo means what he thinks, but to Kisiis, Chinkororo is synonymous with heroism; the warrior spirit. So, he carried that spirit of heroism in his tenure as the Minister for Finance to make sure that improvements were done at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the Kenya Refineries Limited and so on. I was just thanking Sen. Obure who is seated on my left.

13 Mar 2014 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like at this moment to compliment our former colleague, hon. Mungatana, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Kenya Ports Authority. As I compliment him, may I request him to avoid the route that was taken by some of his predecessors who thought that their being appointed as Chairs of KPA meant securing jobs for locals and attempting to--- The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. 12 Mar 2014 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Government has, through the Chair, told the farmers in West Pokot that they should not take their animals for dipping and they should spray those animals at home. Spraying the animals at home has got a serious cost. The acaricides and the rucksack pumps are also expensive. Could the Chair tell us whether the Government has also supported farmers by distributing pumps and acaricides so that the exercise can take place at home?

12 Mar 2014 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, this being a procedural Motion, there will be no reason to belabour it. The reasons advanced by the Senate Majority Leader are quite plausible. I would like to emphasise that most of these Bills were published way The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. 12 Mar 2014 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is the distinguished Senator in order to attack my culture without specifying that the culture she is referring to cuts across two communities and that what obtains in her community does not obtain in the Abaluhya Community? This is because we take care of our widows, children and women. We preserve their legacy and, indeed, make sure that our brothers’ children get that money. Is she in order?

11 Mar 2014 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. In view of what Sen. Muthama has pointed out, would I be in order to request that since we have other business that is ready for disposal, we move on to the next Motion so that we allow the Clerk and the Chairman of the Committee to put their report in order and approach us accordingly?

11 Mar 2014 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I hope that you will not throw me out. We all know about the efficiency of the Office of the Clerk. Obviously, there might be a problem of capacity and that is why there is not enough human resource. In view of this unique situation, allow me to bring two qualified boda boda boys from Mumias so that they are employed to do photocopying work.

On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is Sen. Muthama in order to suggest that Sen. Murkomen is chatting? Senators do not chat in this House, they consult. Is he in order?
