  • 30 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to beg hon. Members to support this Report and allow me to remember what the great American President, Abraham Lincoln, who felt for black people, said. He said, “If slavery was not wrong, then nothing in America was wrong.” I am saying today that this is corruption and if corruption is not wrong then nothing in Kenya can possibly be wrong. With those remarks, I beg to move and request Dr. Kones to second the Motion. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, listening to the supplementary questions plus the points of order, it looks like there is a constitutional issue here, which I was wondering if the Chair could not guide the House a little. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move that pyramids schemes be prohibited under a Bill called the Prohibition of Pyramid Scheme Bill, Bill No.851 of 2012. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: I am sorry, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir; it is Bill No.9. I read the wrong number. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think it is appropriate at this stage for me to make a statement on what a pyramid scheme is. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move that The Prohibition of Pyramid Scheme Bill, Bill No. 9 of 2012 be read a Second Time. This is a Bill for an Act of Parliament to prohibit certain acts in relation to pyramid schemes and to provide for connected purposes. A pyramid scheme can roughly be defined as an unregulated financial scam, which relies on pyramid investors and to which contribution is made in the hope that contributors are going to get phenomenal and instant returns on their investments. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, this is an official report that was given to hon. Joe Nyagah, the Minister for Co-operative Development and Marketing on 24th June, 2009. Once I finish, I will table it although this is already with the Government. I will table it, but to respond to your query, it has been signed by all the members of the taskforce who were led by hon. Francis Nyenze. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Precisely, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I was quoting directly from page 7 of the report, which I will happily table. view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I wanted to conclude by telling this House that the CID has refused to move on these people. For those of us who keep up with the current affairs outside this country, you remember that such a scam took place in the United States of America and a gentleman called Murdoch, a multi- billionaire, was jailed for life. Other governments of the modern world rise to the plight of their citizens and our country refuses to rise to the plight of her citizens simply because they are trying to protect a few people. This is something ... view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I know that all Government businesses are important, but surely, some are more important and urgent. Could the Prime Minister justify why he has overlooked the important and urgent issue of the doctors’ strike, which is presently on his desk through a Question which I filed to him? view
