  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I remember, vividly, that at the time when the officer was dismissed, the hon. Minister was the Minister in charge of Public Service. I remember that at that time, there was a desire by the then Government to purge all the Kalenjins. They sacked all officers for reasons which could not be explained to the public. Could the Minister explain now whether the real reason why this man was sacked was not because of the purge, and if it was not because of the purge, could he tell us why Zilatei was sacked from ... view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Minister being fair to me by saying that I am referring things that he does not want to know when it is a fact that the hon. Minister was the Minister for Public Service at the time when---- In order for us not blame him for effecting that policy, could he confirm the reason why this officer was sacked? view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, he was a Minister and I used to visit him in his office and have a cup of tea with him. view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Parliament as an organ of review has played a very important role and we all appreciate the fact that the media also plays and is going to play a critical role. Is the hon. Member in order to impute that the media which cannot speak in this House today is impartial when we know it is only two days ago when they were accurately reported as having been heckled and booed in a rally in the Rift Valley in Tinderet? Is he in order? view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to thank you for that clarification. Allow me on this point of order to also further clarify that, whereas a medical officer is first trained to do general practice, when they specialize, they still retain the capacity to do the usual practice. I am not a gynecologist. view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir. It looks like it will be a bit difficult for us to proceed, could you direct that they give us copies of the Bill because they were not circulated to us? We cannot follow. 25 view

  • 13 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs the following Question by Private Notice. What is the Government doing to restore the confidence of Kenyans in the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) following the resignation of its Vice-Chair? view
  • 13 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for stating that he wishes to observe the rule of law. Under the same Act of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation, there is Section 17(2). I am urging the Assistant Minister to consider applying this section in view of the outcry in the court of public opinion where three things have been raised. One, that Mr. Kiplagat has been adversely mentioned in the Wagalla Massacre of 1984. He has to be interrogated on his presence in Wajir. Secondly, he has been mentioned in the case of the assassination of the ... view
