  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: We were consulting on county matters and not any other matter. I rise to support the appointment of Prof. Boga as the Principal Secretary, State Department for Agricultural Research. I want to thank His Excellency the President for having fished out very qualified people to help him run the agenda of Government. My advice to the appointee is that he should be available, move around the country and talk to farmers so that he can know the issues affecting them. He must come up with a road map of how farmers, like me, are going to be paid promptly for ... view
  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Of late, we have seen a situation whereby farmers deliver their produce to NCPB and have to beg to be paid. They have been begging for their money and praying for rain. They have put their money into tilling their land and waited to harvest the crop which they later deliver to NCPB. Thereafter, they suffer again waiting for payment. I want to challenge this PS to come up with a road map so that farmers will no longer have to queue to deliver their crop and for payment. view

  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I was wondering why I have not been given an opportunity because earlier on we were told that preference of speaking is given to the Leader of Majority Party and the Leader of Minority Party. First of all, I want to thank the Committee on Appointments for the time they took to come up with a very comprehensive Report. I also want to thank the appointing authorities, His Excellency the President and the Deputy President, for having appointed people who went through the vetting process smoothly. When I look at the composition of the Cabinet nominees, ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: dirty, you get a lady with a new broom”. We have been given a lady. I sit in the Departmental Committee of Lands and I am looking forward to working very closely with her in order to bring sanity to the Ministry of Lands. I will not conclude before I mention the new kid on the block, Rashid Echesa Muhamed. The confidence the President has bestowed on this young man should be an eye-opener to the young men who have been misused by members of the Opposition in their areas to throw stones, hurl insults and engage in activities which ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On behalf of my family and the people of Soy Constituency, I would like to pass our sincere condolences to the family of the late Governor of Nyeri County. As has been said before by Hon. Members, the late Governor of Nyeri County happens to have visited Uasin Gishu County and we hosted him for two nights as we went around the campaign trail in Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia counties campaigning for the re- election of His Excellency the President. The late Governor Gakuru was a very humble man. We shared a meal the first ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I can see I have been given a new name. I will try and adopt it. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: I rise to second this Motion. As a matter of importance to our country, we need to adopt climate change for our country. I come from an agricultural county that depends heavily on rain- fed agriculture. As it has been mentioned here, climate change also affects the rain pattern. We can see right now it is harvesting time in Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Trans Nzoia counties. For every 10 bags of maize we harvest, we have three bags that we throw away or mill for cows because they have become rotten due to excessive rain. view
