I also rise to support this Motion that seeks to implement a policy and criteria on how we will remunerate the village elders. It has been discussed here before that village elders are important people in our societies. These are people we rely on in the villages. Looking at the age bracket and from the name, these are very reliable people. We have used them in the past and they have not been remunerated. view

Matters security, dispute resolution and domestic resolutions are all sorted out by these village elders. These people bring harmony in our villages.   • 6 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: I want to give my hand in the sense that as we restructure public transport, let us work hand in hand even as Members of Parliament with the Ministry and Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing to make sure that there is restructuring of NTSA; there is introduction of competitive tendering for public transport as it will bring sanity.   • 27 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: As my Vice Chairman has expounded, we found this project to have very serious challenges which the Ministry could not adequately explain. Despite numerous meeting with them, it did not come out very clear to address the challenges that were raised by the Committee. We tried further to have joint sessions with the Departmental Committee on Communication, Information and Innovation, but they were not coming out very clearly.
