20 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, if there was a 30 per cent slot reserved for women with disabilities, a 30 per cent slot reserved for young women and a 30 per cent slot reserved for women from rural areas so that we can leave the remaining 10 per cent for those that I had mentioned earlier, I would have supported this Bill. We also need to empower our women because at the end of the day, there are more women than men in this country. We should also empower our women to recognise the power of a woman so that they elect more ...

20 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, I may have irritated a few Members. I do not know where they belong. We should come up with legislation so that we know who will be nominated to those slots so that we have a correct representation. The largest democracy in the world – the United States of America - has also not attained the two-thirds gender rule. We are crawling. I am sure we will very soon achieve this two-thirds gender rule. We should also recognise that men are endangered. We are no longer discussing about the boy-child. When we talk of the gender top-up, at ...

13 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, I want to add my voice to this conversation because we know that the cooperative movement has built and destroyed many of the people we represent here. As somebody who comes from a region where the cooperative movement started, I get very worried when I hear Hon. Maanzo is saying that, indeed, a Cabinet Secretary of Government claimed not to be aware of particular amendments. Because the matter is already on the Floor of the House as it should have been and we now see that there might be some issue, I urge all Members who know what ...

13 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Speaker made a ruling on this matter. It is out of order for us to keep on repeating it while the Speaker has made a ruling. The Speaker is always right.

13 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Let me start by congratulating the Member for Lamu for bringing such an important Statement to this House. We really need to support this Statement because it has come at the right time. We also thank the President for banning importation of fish from China. We need more stringent measures and more investments put into fish farming. It is very shameful that we import fish at this era and in a country that is blessed with many water masses which include Lake Victoria, Lake Naivasha, the Indian Ocean and so many water ...

8 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Hon. Deputy Speaker, it is very embarrassing to hear we lost 8-1. I am keen to find out who the Members in that team are. In order to reclaim the glory of this House, please allow us to disband that team and replace it with ladies led by Millie Odhiambo.

8 Nov 2018 in National Assembly:
Hon. Deputy Speaker, as we disband the Bunge F.C., let me suggest that I be given the opportunity to be the goalkeeper because persons with disability are given aides by law. So, I will be with my aide at the goalpost and you can be assured that we will not lose.
