  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: forestall unnecessary numerous audit queries. In future, the Committee will name and shame Accounting Officers who do not take the audit process seriously, especially those who fail to act on its directives and the Auditor-General’s management letters. The PAC will hold them personally responsible with the attendance sanctions. Conversely, the Committee will duly recommend the best performers. With those remarks, I beg to second. view
  • 9 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I think there is really no need to rush too much. We have very critical issues that have been raised in this Report; I know that many hon. Members, both in the Committee and in this House, would prefer to have ample time tomorrow to be able to contribute to this important Report. I propose that we are not rushed but we use time as provided for in the Standing Orders. view
  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I think hon. Midiwo challenged me and told me that I may be the next one in line. We are not doing this because I may be the next one; we are doing this because we are beginning to see political intolerance and party dictatorship that is beginning to grow in this country. view

  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: I feel bad because hon. Mati was with me in the streets when we were fighting for a new Constitution. If we allow this to go on, it is going to get to a point where an hon. Member of the Opposition cannot even get a project done by a Government because if you are seen with the President commissioning a particular project in your constituency, you are called a mole. You are told you are not loyal to the party and then you are thrown out of a committee. I would hate the same to happen on my side. ... view
  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Somebody needs to tell him that he must stay true to the things he fought for even within his party. I feel saddened to see one lady, hon. (Dr.) Susan Musyoka, for heavens’ sake, a very humble lady; very committed to her party; a lady who is always there on matters that support women, now you are throwing her away from the House Business Committee (HBC). Is it right? We must say no to this dictatorship. Now I understand why hon. (Ms.) Shebesh ran to TNA. I am even surprised to hear hon. Manson Nyamwea, a man I respect so ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Today is a very sad day for this nation. We have dealt with many forms of gender-based violence for the past ten years or so that I have been in this House but never have we had to talk about a woman being stripped in public for what somebody else considers to be indecent dressing. My heart goes out to those two ladies who had to face the wrath of a mob of close to 100 or more men surrounding them, stripping them naked, pinching them, beating them and doing all manner of things ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: 43 Tuesday 18th November, 2014 define decent dressing, then it can only come from this House. Remember what the mother of all laws – the Constitution says. It says everybody has a right to dress as they wish. So, let us not allow criminals to define dressing for the women of this country. I keep asking: When did women begin to wear miniskirts? Is it yesterday? Is it last Friday when the first incident of stripping took place? If you look at pictures of our mothers and sisters in the 1970s, they wore miniskirts that we cannot wear today and ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I just want to say that it is good to correct my colleague, the hon. Wakhungu, that there was no mention of Rift Valley in the speech, unless of course you are looking at it out of context. view
